A wife...a mother

Proverbs 31:10-12 and 25-31

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.

Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.

She brings him good, not harm all the days of her life.

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Her children arise and call her blessed;her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

I read this verse thinking of my own mother. She is described so perfectly here. I have been so blessed to be raised by the type of mother I have. One who puts everything before herself...one that gives of herself daily without asking for anything in return...loves the Lord with all that she has...prays without ceasing for her family...and shines the light of Christ. Yes, I do stand and call her blessed and yes, many women do noble things but to me YES she surpasses them all.

This is what I want...I want to be the women described in this verse...I want to be the mom and wife that my mother has been. I am so thankful today to be a mom. So thankful for the 2 beautiful children the Lord has given me the privilege to raise. I love to say that I am a mommy and to hear Sarah Scott say "mommy." It is the sweetest sound. Who could ask for more....being a mom...the greatest gift of all.

Happy Mothers Day!
