18 months old

Goodness that sounds so old:)!!! My little Sarah Scott is 18 months old..yesterday! I was not able to blog because we were in Atl celebrating Kellen's first bday....that will be my next blog. We had a wonderful time.
So...18 months and she acts like she is much much older. I know I am her mom and I am supposed to think that she is smart but let me tell you she has the vocab of a 3 year old and really is VERY smart;). The child repeats everything that you say and has started to put some phrases together. Due to her chronic diaper rashes she always hears me say " Mommy is so sorry" when I change her diaper. The other day she was on the changing table and I took her diaper off and she said " Oh Mommy, I'm so sorry." It was the cutest thing that she has ever said but then I had to explain to her that she does not need to tell me sorry!! She amazes me each day with knowing what things are when I have not even told her...she just picks up on everything that we say and do.
Sarah Scott this is what you are up to these days:
*weigh 22.5lbs
* Over the last month you have had 2 more really really bad diaper rashes and mommy has started to keep a food journal so that we can hopefully get to the bottom of this!
* Size 3 shoes...pushing a 3 1/2 and size 18 mths clothes..in most things
*love to read and each night we are still reading 2-3 books before bed.
* love your new baby brother..you call him "Danton" and you love to try and mother him..when he is crying you want to give him his paci and you come tell mommy "Danton dying!!"
* You are still Barr-eee's biggest fan. His name is the first one you say when you get up in the morning. When mommy tells you that it is time to eat. You take your highchair and push it in front of the TV and say "Barr-ee"
*You no longer cry in the morning to let us know that you are awake and ready to get up but you call either for mommy or daddy...you are napping just once in the afternoon and will usually sleep about 2 hours.

Sarah Scott mommy and daddy love you more than you know. We call you our little angel girl. You are growing so very fast...I would love to freeze time right now and keep you at this age for the next 20 years. The things that you say and do make us smile.

Prince charming

So today SS found her prince charming!!! Matt and Stephanie are wonderful friends of ours in Atl that have a little boy named Kellen. Today Steph sent me a text to look at her blog when I got a chance that there is a picture of Kellen that she took for Sarah Scott.
Check this out:

It's official...Kellen has declared his love for SS and I could not be more excited...lol
At only 12 months he has decided that he is Sarah Scott's prince charming...she is a lucky girl!

They make me smile!

They do...everyday...every minute of everyday.
I have just put both kids down to bed. SS is probably sound to sleep by now but I hear Hamp in the monitor next to me as I type...this will be a several hour process before he is sound asleep..sigh!
BUT...that's ok because they are my children, my responsibility and my most precious gift I could have ever been given.

With Hampton its the sweet innocent look about him, how he looks at me like mom I totally depend on you. Its when I get so lucky to hear that sweet coo that he makes and get a smile that I worked so hard to see or when I hold him and he rest on my chest and snuggles with me.

With Sarah Scott it's hearing her say "mommiee" or "luh-oo" (love you) just because. Knowing that when she wakes up from a nap or in the morning I will hear her call for me. When I am holding her and she wraps her arms around my neck and squeezes so tight and then gives me a kiss on the cheek. When she comes up to me and begs for me to hold her just because she wants some mommy time. To see the excitement on her face when you tell her daddy is home..she waits so anxiously at the door and then yells "dadeee" when she sees him.

This last 7 weeks have gone by so fast. I can't believe that Hamp has been with us that long. It feels like yesterday that we came home with him. I have enjoyed being home with both kids...its been crazy but in a fun way:)! I will admit there have been many times since Hamp has been born that I get so frustrated at SS. When Hamp is crying or I am feeding him and SS is crawling all over me, hitting him in the face or trying to kiss him but instead she is hurting him I lose my cool sometimes. Minutes later she is doing the cutest thing that makes my heart melt. I don't want to sound like a bad mom but my nerves can only take so much sometimes. However, I have to try and remember that SS is a little girl, she wants mommies attention and when she is pulling his paci out of his mouth to only shove it back in his mouth she thinks that she is helping.

My children are sweet, beautiful and well just simply perfect. I am totally in love with them and beyond ecstatic to be their mother. Although I have my days when I want to scream just one look back at them makes me smile. They are my heart, my world and the reason that I want to be exactly the person that the Lord has called me to be. I want to set that example for SS and Hamp that they will see my desire to love and worship our Savior...so that when they are older they desire that same relationship with the Lord.

Just look at them.....they will make you smile too!!:)

A new adventure

Yesterday was a good day. Scott was home with us and the morning started off with Scott taking the dogs to the vet for the yearly check up. I never look forward to that visit because it always seems to break the checking account on top of finding out that Tuggle has to have a tumor removed from his eye. Merry late Christmas, early birthday and happy anniversary to us right..lol!!
When Scott got home we got ready and ran some errands and had lunch at Cici's. Scott absolutely loves that place and I hate to eat there but I gave in today. SS loved it...she had 2 pieces of pizza, pasta and dessert pizza...to have been so picky once she is now a little piggy girl!!! She was so good while we were shopping and came home and crashed for a 3 hour nap.
Scott and I have been talking about needing to take her to the park and I was determined to take her while the weather was so pretty. We had dinner plans at Scott's parents so we packed up a little early and headed to the park before dinner.
Sarah Scott absolutely loved the swing. Scott had her going so high I was about to have a heart attack..his response to me was just wait till little man and I play on the swing. That was of no comfort to me!!!:)
She played on the slide and enjoyed that but quickly wanted back on the swing. Below are some pictures of her having a blast.

As you see Hampton enjoyed his first trip to the park catching some shut eye on the bench!

Hampton is continuing to do well. His sleeping at night improved now that I am putting him on his tummy. He is still eating every 3 hours on the dot through the night and all day, HOWEVER last night he slept from 11 to 5:30...may have been a freak thing but we will see tonight!! We are anxious for some smiles from him. He is just precious and I love kissing those sweet cheeks.

Haiti

I know all of you have heard about the devastating earthquake in Haiti. My parents attend a church called Life ministries and the pastor and his wife along with other church members were in Haiti doing mission work at the time of the earthquake. http://bit.ly/64ASzt this is an article from our local paper that was posted yesterday to give you more information.

Please read the info below. This is a recent posting from Life Ministries.

As you may already know, Haiti has been devastated by the recent earthquake. We, at Life Ministries, have been particularly interested in this disaster as our pastor and some of our staff have been caught right in the middle of the devastation. We have not spoken with them in the last few days, but we have heard reports that Pastor Donnie and the team are safe. They have been working tirelessly in the ravaged city of Port-au-Prince.

Now is the time for the church to rise up and help this poor country. One of the best ways that we know how to do that at this time is by donating funds that will be used to help the Haitians in this critical hour.

They are growing so fast..17 months and 1 month

I am soooo behind on blogging. Since my last blog SS turned 17 months and Hampton turned one month. Things are going well at the Whitfield house just still learning to adjust to 2 little ones and Hamp's sleeping schedule that he has...well not much of one but we are working on that. As I type this he is next to me in his swaddle and I am praying he goes night night!!!

Sarah Scott turned 17 months 12/30.

She is such a joy but really becoming a handful. She is starting to show her signs of jealousy with Hampton. Acting out in little ways that she has not before. I will be honest and tell you that it really test the little bit of patience that I have but we are working together to get through it. It does break my heart though bc she wants mommy mommy right now bc she sees me holding Hamp. She always kisses on Hamp and will crawl all over him to get to him or poke his eye as she says "eye" and nose and she says "noe." She also really enjoys taking his paci out of his mouth and bringing it to me and saying "papee" and hitting him wherever then kissing him like that makes it all better. I have to try not to laugh and scold her at the same time. Her acting out has consisted of hitting and biting also. I guess she is a work in progress....she is still our sweet little angel....just now with a little attitude!!

A few things about SS at 17 months.
* In size 18 month clothes (although few are 12 months)
* Size 3 shoes
* Size 4 diapers
* weigh 22 lbs.
* Still going down at night at 8:30 but now sleeping until between 9 and 10.
* She is continuing to talk talk talk!! Her vocabulary is amazing for her age. She will repeat anything that we say. Some new things that she is saying is "Elp-ooo" -Help you, "Baa" - back, "auree" - sorry and many many others.
* Expanding your choices of food. Still loves oatmeal, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, yogurt and fruit but now enjoying grits, eggs, pizza and potatoes.
* Bc she is waking up so late she is down to one nap in the afternoon for 2-3 hours.
* Fetish with shoes...loves to put them on then take them off
*loves to brush her teeth...we had to get her a new toothbrush bc she loves to walk around the house and chew on it!

Hampton turned one month on 1/3

A few things about Hampton at 1 month
*13 lbs
*sleeping alot during the day and still working on our nights
* not sure if you want a paci still...its on and off
* drinking 4oz every 3 hours of breast milk and sometimes formula
* struggling with some baby acne right now
*like sleeping on your tummy but mommy only lets you do that during the day when I can see you

Sarah Scott and Hampton,

Mommy and Daddy love you both very much. You are both growing so fast. SS we love to see the excitement in your eyes when you kiss your baby brother. Both of you mean the world to us and we are ready to see you running around and playing together.
Love, Mommy
